Some mornings you wake up early, some mornings you wake up late. Some you wake up because you want to, some you wake up because you have to. Some you wake up with a sense of purpose, some you wake up with a sense of wandering. Some you wake up with a sense of confidence, some you wake up with a sense of anxiety.
Then there are some when you wake up with a sense of "direction": walk down to the river. Unplanned, spontaneous, yet like you have a "commitment" or an "appointment". Wonder takes over...
You learn to recognize the Invitation.
"Get up and go."
You walk and look, look and walk. All the flowers appear the same, except for the one that grabs your attention. But why? It's not that it's different from the dozens beside it. Yet, there IS something about it - something IN it. You can't explain it, but you do learn to discern it. It's discovery, it's revelatory. It's the Invitation: "Come and find rest in thanksgiving and strength in joy."
You return the same way you came, but not in the same way you came.
