"I passed by the field of a sluggard, by the vineyard of a man lacking sense, and behold, it was all overgrown with thorns; the ground was covered with nettles, and its stone wall was broken down. Then I saw and CONSIDERED it; I looked and RECEIVED instruction." (Proverbs 30:30-32, emphasis mine)
Life and our circumstances are to be paid attention to, observed carefully, studied intently. God doesn’t bypass our mind and instantly download into our heart “all things that pertain to life and godliness”; we are to “make every effort” (2 Peter 1:3, 5) with every part of us.
I can't be frustrated with God if I'm unwilling to think long and hard about something. Should I ask for health and yet refuse to eat healthy?
To ask God for wisdom is to recognize our limitations, but not to surrender our abilities to think or act. Rather, IN SUBMISSION TO GOD we engage all the powers of our mind towards pursuing His mind so that we might better comprehend His thoughts and actively serve His will.
